Stake
A quantity of assets placed in an account intended to incentivize cooperative behaivor and disintentivize uncooperative behaivor. Staking describes the process of allocating those assets into the prescribed account.
Staking is most commonly used in Proof-of-Stake consensus to prevent validators from attempting to verify inaccurate date lest their stake be made worthless. At the same time, staked assets typically earn yield for the account that has chosen to risk them.
