Notoros Transaction Format

Notoros transactions have a unique format that make the ledger more flexible and reduce the complexity of application state transitions. Notoros transactions consume more memory than transactions on Ethereum, but in doing so free the ledger from having to keep track of an ever-growing application state.

A Postal Service

The internet works a lot like a postal service with digital versions of senders, receivers, and letters in envelopes. Notoros leverages combines the concepts of the internet with those of a distributed ledger, so naturally, it also resembles a postal service.

When mailing a letter, or sending a Notoros transaction, we must include both a destination address and the sender’s return address on the envelope. The envelope should contain some data, like a birthday card. We include an “application lens ID” to make sure the message is read by the correct application, like how we include a name to ensure the right person receives the birthday card. These components make up the basis for Notoros transactions and how they are sent and received across the ledger. Learn more about the components of a Notoros transaction on the next page.
